Party at my place- tomorrow!

Join me tomorrow- Saturday, May 15th @4pm

I feel like I can say this through my experience with fat loss- small changes CAN equal BIG results! Since I started my personal journey to fitness I have lost nearly 70lbs.
I did not see any movement in my weight at the beginning of my journey UNTIL I made small changes to my nutrition. So I thought I’d have a party to help explain to you the small changes you can impliment in your daily nutrition to help you reach your fitness goals. Whether you want to get more toned, lose 50lbs or wanna get rid of that muffin top you CANNOT get there without addressing your nutrition!
Please join me as I present to you some simple tips and even invite you to join me during my personal “detox”. We will do this together and there is absolutely NO financial obligation whatsoever. I simply want to see your smile when you get your results you’ve always desired and be a small part of your journey.
Oh, and if you are curious about fitness programs to help you reach your goals through exercise (which BTW- nutrition and excercise go together!) I will be showing some clips from my upcoming workout challenge- Let me know if you want to be part of it!

I ran a half-marathon!

This is coming from the girl who dreaded the 1-mile run in HS, who thought the only sane reason to run was when your life was in danger and who thought that she might not even physically be able to complete a half-marathon.

Well folks! last sunday, May 2nd I did it! I completed my first 1/2 marathon and yes, by first I do imply that there will be more. It’s a very strange place to be in. I think I’m officially in the crazy runner’s club since I did it, but I still feel like the out of place girl. BUT none the less, I crossed that finish line and it felt good to accomplish one of my recently developed life goals. I completed in 2:41 (mind you I took 2 bathroom breaks) but I did jog/run (i’ve got short legs, not sure what i do qualifies as “running”) all but 1-2 minutes of walking at mile 12.

With all this said, this post is not a “Hey! Look what I can do!” post, but a “Hey! if I can accomplish something I saw as “crazy” or “impossible” you can too!!”- so what are you gonna do?! We are nearing our 1/2 mark of 2010, do I need to remind you about your resolutions?! me? 1/2 marathon- CHECK! So what’s next?- more posts to come about me, but I want to hear about you! Show some love, leave a comment! I want to help you reach your goals too! Leave me a comment and I will do ALL that I can to see you to your goal! Seriously! TRY ME! 🙂

I’m back and ready to challenge you!

In honor of March being national Nutrition month & my birthday month 🙂 I am inviting you to join me in my 10&10 challenge!
What is the 10&10 challenge?!
I challenge you to have 10 servings of fruits/veggies during each day in march & be done eating ALL your meals by 10pm!
Why?
Adding more fruits and veggies to your daily diet has numerous benefits including more energy, clearer skin, regularity (hey- it’s true!) & helps you consume less calories overall(which if fat loss is your goal- you MUST do this!)!
Why 10pm?
That may be late for you, but that is a personal challenge for me and maybe it will be for you too! I am a late night snacker and I know I need to get that under control! I also know that I do GREAT with challenges so why not help keep each other accountable! I need your help too!
What does a serving of fruit/veggie look like?
This can seem confusing at first so I here is a link: http://nutrition.about.com/od/fruitsandvegetables/f/servingfruit.htm where you can learn about what a serving size is!
What if I cant seem to eat that much fruits/veggies or I hate eating them?
Well, I REALLY encourage you to try for your health’s sake, but sometimes I understand it can be hard to swallow (literally) if you hate or do not care for fruits/veggies. For those of you who fall under this category (and frankly I also recommend this for EVERYONE!) I suggest you try Shakeology! You can learn all about it and order from here: www.myshakeology.com/rruppe It’s amazing and will help you get in much needed nutrition from fruits & veggies found all over the world?! If you would like a sample please let me know and I can bring it to you OR mail it to you asap! But ask fast! I use it EVERYDAY and I LOVE IT! Can’t say enough good things about it! Seriously go read about it on my site!

So are you with me? 10&10- can you do it?! Sure you can! And you will be so happy you did! Please send me a quick email and let me know you are in! Hope you’ll join me!

How ab0ut you? Even if you feel like you are so far from your original goal go for it! I doubt you’d lose 50lbs or drop 4 sizes in the next 4 weeks, but why not work hard and see what you can do in 4 weeks? Who is joining me? Let’s do this! We can do it!!

Please comment below with your goal and plan below, we will all be rooting each other along the next 4 weeks!

Eating Clean on Thanksgiving

Why is it that we feel that gluttony is acceptable during the holidays? Handfuls of candies from your kid’s Halloween stash, stuffing baked goodies into your cheeks, drinking “just one drink” at the bazillion holiday parties…. It will all add up, and fast! Many of you were shocked by my stat about how many lbs the ave. American gains during the holidays, but is it a little easier to understand?

I can’t stand when I hear “well, I don’t plan on wearing a bikini until June anyways!” Why spend half the year taking steps backwards only to have to work harder to reach your goal at the 2nd half? If your true goal is clean health and to be fit, it should be part of your everyday life- not during the warm months!

Well, this week is Thanksgiving! A fun time to get together with friends and family and EAT! I am not saying you shouldn’t eat and enjoy your favorite Thanksgiving favorites, but I am saying that you can still eat clean while enjoying your favorites.

Take this challenge!

November has 30 days and that is exactly what we need for the Elimination Diet! If you haven’t read my prior post where I rave on and on about the Elimination Diet then you should (Diets are like bad parenting-NOT EFFECTIVE!). But to give you a shortened version… The Elimination Diet is a 30-day natural detox using real whole foods (nothing fake, no shakes, pills or creams involved!) to clean out toxins from our body to let our bodies respond and react the way that they were created to do. It is YOU who has polluted it with all the crap that goes into your mouth so it is YOU who must commit to this! You body will thank you (sorry for the harshness, but i have no way to say it nicer).
This is the link to the Elimination Diet: http://www.daxmoy-pts.co.uk/elimination.pdf It’s a free resource, anyone can get it, go to the link, print it out and READ IT! Dax Moy, creator of the Elimination Diet explains EXACTLY what to do in detail, I promise. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments section of this post and I will do my best to answer it.
So that explained the what and a little bit of the why… let me expand on why. You need to clear your body of the junk because right now your body is not opperating the way it was designed to. You are consuming (even if you think you “eat healthy”) things in your normal diet that are keeping your body from functioning regularly, so in order to fix that you must remove or “eliminate” those things from your diet for 30 days (thats how long it needs to get out of your system). Notice this “diet” has a beginning and end, not something you are expected to do forever, but doing this will help you learn about your body individually so you can know how to fuel it forever!
Who should do this? Let me put it this way- if you answer yes to ALL these questions you are off the hook and do not have to do this 🙂
1. Are you happy with where your body is right now?
2. Do you feel comfortable in situations where you are expected to wear a swimsuit in public?
3. Do you have normal bowel movements (at least 1-3 times a day)?
4. Has your weight remained the same, consistently, for the past 3 years (that means no drastic ups and downs of 10+lbs)?
5. Do you consider yourself to be fit or at your desired fitness level?
6. Do you rarely get sick and when you do you recover very quickly?
7. Do you rarely-never get tummy aches, boated, diarrhea or constipation?
8. Do you wake up full of energy and sustain your energy level all day?

Not many, if any, people can answer yes to all those questions. Even the most fit or most “healthy” people can benefit from the Elimination Diet!
What if you don’t need/or wish to lose weight? great question! The elimination diet is not focused on weight loss, but like I tell ALL my clients- if you follow and stay true to the Elimination Diet then if there is weight to be lost, it will start to get lost. The Elimination Diet is for everone! Whether your goals are to maintain weight, lose fat, gain muscle, have more energy or just to feel better! EVERYONE can benefit from this challenge!
If you choose to not participate and you are reading this, you simply are not ready (or willing) to take control of your body and try to see what happens. This is my biggest frustration and my biggest heart break when it comes to my profession. So many people want change, they want results, they have goals, they want to finally have success… but unfortunately it seems like too much work. If only I could do it for you, I would! But the desire and commitment to take control of your situation can only come from you. And when you’re finally ready you will get results, I promise! So what do you say? Do you take this challenge?

Please post a comment below if you will be joining us*! We start Sunday, November 1st, 2009 and the first 2 days are prep days, so you cannot say you don’t have enough time to get ready! If you decide to join late that is fine! unfortunately you will not qualify for the prize, but you will be making a HUGE step in reaching your health and fitness goals!

Once I have received your comment I will email you with what I need from you and you can expect to be receiving emails from me to support you during this 30-day challenge.

The winner will be announced on December 15th. Each participant will be responsible to respond to me during the first week of December with their reflection of how their 30-day challenge went to qualify in being considered for the honor of being the 2nd Elimination Challenge winner. Let’s do this!

*Please note that I will never share any information regarding you or anything you share with me on my blog without prior approval from you. Anything you leave in the comment box below is public, if you would like to contact me privately please email me at fatmomtofitmom@gmail.com

ps- challenge is open to all ages and genders! It’s not just for moms, great for EVERYONE!

Its that time of year again!

Do you smell the sweet pumpkin candles everywhere? Have you starting your holiday baking? Pulling out the warm sweaters? Turning on the heater? Yes, this time of year can feel so cozy and warm, especially if you are an average american who puts on 12lbs during the holidays.
Well, NOT THIS YEAR! Lets battle this “tradition” and end it now! Who cares if you don’t plan on wearing a bathing suit until next June- Thats a LAME excuse to put on extra lbs!
Here’s how we will do this. Accountability and learning! Please Join me in my 2nd Fatmomtofitmom Elimination Challenge!! For 30 days I want YOU to join me during the month of November to Eliminate items from our daily food intake to better learn about your body and to avoid ugly fat gain during the holidays.
If you can feel the fluff adding and the jiggle as you drive YOU NEED TO DO THIS! If you make the same resolution Jan 1st every year (to lose weight) then YOU NEED TO DO THIS! If you just said “elimination during THANKSGIVING?!!” YOU NEED TO DO THIS!
More details to come friday, October 30th, but know these three things:
1-you won’t regret joining my challenge!
2-you will be supported the whole way through
3- there is a prize* for the most improvement among the participants!-seriously, I have it now- and I even have a friend working on a male friendly prize 🙂

*the prize is currently limited to participants in Southern California and is for a female (males can use it as a gift for their special lady!), but I am working/looking for a prize that can be mailed to any participant in the United States, regardless I would LOVE your participation.

Why it’s important to take a before picture

Everything has a beginning, every book, every life, every journey. There is always a start. Your fitness journey will/or did also. Do you have a before picture? Do you have a physical way to remember the way you were before? Do you have a way to visually measure and see the difference your efforts have made? I can personally tell you that having that before picture makes all the difference when you’re busting your butt or when you feel like you are spinning your wheels for nothing, or when that plate of cookies looks so yummy. Empower yourself with a before picture today. Go find those jeans that you keep avoiding to get rid of because you WILL fit in them one day. Put them on, even if they only pull up to your knees and take a picture. Use your phone, no one else has to see it. It exists to empower you and to help you see the changes when you feel hopeless or like you want to give up.
my before picture:
beginning-may-2008-2-1
I’m not proud of the way I look here. This was taken May of 2008 and I am 201 lbs here. I had my baby girl in March of 2008 and well ya know I’ve already been on this soap box. But something about this picture- it now lives on every one of my business cards I hand out. My 19 month old daughter held my business card and pointed at my current picture and said “Mommy!” then I asked her who was in my before picture. She stared at it, then shrugged her shoulders and said “I dunno!”. Wow, my baby doesn’t know that woman, and I never want her to.

My current picture:
IMG_0556
60lbs lost and feeling like a rockstar!

So I never thought I’d EVER post pictures of myself anywhere, let alone the internet- where ANYONE can see them. I’m kinda a private person, but I have learned the benefit of taking and posting my before and current pictures.
I had initially resisted because i thought it would be so embarrassing for people to see me especially in a bikini. And its online so my nephews or my pastor or my husbands co-workers could see them! But I did it, i took a leap of faith and I did it because I realize two things. 1-People needed to see the change and 2-I needed to see it too.
You can tell people all you want about the benefits of getting fit or how awesome a workout is or how eating clean makes you feel, but when it comes down to it, when I slap down my business card with my pictures on them thats when I get a response. They can see the change. I wholeheartily agree that the change inside is soo much greater then what can be seen outside, but what I display outside is my only way to communicate the wonderful changes inside. I have blogged before of how I felt physically and emotionally before the fat loss, but no words can really do them justice so I can give you my pictures.
In seeing the responses and people telling me how motivating my success was being for them, I became a believer in posting pictures.

We are the only one who is with ouorselves every minute of the day. We are the ones who see ourselves in the mirror, we are the ones who can feel that bulge over our pants when we sit. We are the ones who notice the jiggly or bumpy or whatever on ourselves. Something I noticed is that the self critiquing, though is lessens and the focus shifts, it’s still there. I don’t hate myself anymore. I don’t get depressed and cry endlessly because nothing will zip or sit right, but It is so easy for me to feel like I am back at square one and feel like I look yucky because that old fat Rossy is still in there deep inside and she tries to come out and bring new Rossy down and she is so sly sometimes. But I am empowered with that before picture. I know I am a different woman now, because I can see it!

Well? Go take your picture! You’ll be so happy you did!

Drum roll please!

okay, so I know I never announced the winner for my May Elimination Diet 30-day Challenge- I have learned to get the prize physically in hand before the challenge now 🙂

So we started with 10 excited participants and ended with 6 AMAZING finishers! The challenge was to complete the 30-day Elimination Diet where we would be removing 1-sugar, 2-red meat, 3-caffiene, 4-procced foods, 5-alcohol & 6-dairy for 30 days. In doing this you remove unwanted toxins from your body while flooding it with nutrient rich whole foods (and the natural side effect of that is your blody releases the fat that has been trapped by toxins in your body). Everyone did an awesome job learning so much about their body, losing a ton of inches & fat and gaining so much knowledge about what their body truly wanted and needed.

It was pretty tough to choose a winner of the challenge, I saw so much growth and transformation of the mind, so many insights about food addictions people had no idea they had. I prayed a long while about it and then it was clear to me who the winner was.

This person gave their 100% to the challenge, they had ups and downs- which is totally normal, but this person stood out because she learned something that is key to her success. She was able to stop and look inwardly when she met a new challenge or a road block. She not only is melting away on the outside, but she is going through amazing transformations on the inside of herself. She understands herself in a new light, she sees her obstacles now and can prepare and equip herself for them instead of getting side swipped. She is implementing her insights daily and continues on her journey. She has goals and her eyes are steadfast on them.

The winner of Fatmomtofitmom.com’s first ever challenge is my good friend Terri Yard! In the 30 days she managed to lose 7 inches of fat! Isn’t that awesome?! Terri is an amazing woman and I am honored to be her friend and witness what an amazing transformation she is having.

Terri’s dedication to her fitness and health is being rewarded with a gift certificate for her choice of a massage or facial from Total Woman Spa!

Terri: I am so incredibly proud of you. You are an inspiration to me and you fuel my motivation to keep on going. I am honored and blessed to be your friend and thank God for putting us together. I am happy to be on this journey together and show the world what we are capable of if we rely on our Lord for strength, learn about how He designed us to be and remain diligent to His calling of keeping His temple clean!

woo hoo! Help me congratulate Terri with comments below!

all the ladies in the house- say hey!

CLICK HERE>Summer Slim Down Challenge Finalists<CLICK HERE

The link above will direct you to some of the most pheonominal and inspiring stories of how women have been empowered with the information and support they needed to literally TRANSFORM their bodies and minds.

Please check it out, read their stories, check out their before and after pictures and VOTE! I along side these women and dozens of others participated in a 12 week Summer Slim Down Challenge through ClubFYM.com.

The next challenge starts this coming monday, Aug. 3rd and if you are a woman I WANT you to join us!! Before all your excuses start spewing out of your mouth- read my answers to those excuses first!

1-no time: Holly Rigsby is the creator and author of Fit Yummy Mummy and has designed a workout program that takes 15 minutes a workout! literally 15 minutes. 3 resistance workouts, 3 interval cardio workouts= 90 minutes of working out a week! if you are doing 0 minutes or 10 hours of working out a week I personally challenge you to give this a try- and you will see and feel a difference!

2- no $, ha! I got this one covered too! clubfym.com’s membership is $9.95 a month- BUT if you click the link I have for it to the right you will see that you can sign up and get 30 days FREE! Yup, free! & the link to the right for the e-book (which is needed to do the challenge) allows you to try the e-book for 30 days for $4.95 ! After 30 days you will have to pay the remaining $35 (I believe) and after 30 days of clubFYM membership you will also have to start paying… BUT! I want to challenge you to try this challenge for 30 days, give the 30 days your all.  Do everything just the way its outlined for you (completely doable and reasonable) for 30 days, at 30 days remeasure, take another picture of yourself. If after 30 days you don’t have jaw dropping results and not one person has complimented how awesome you look and your clothes are still fitting the way they were then I give you permission to quit! and get not spend another cent on it. I seriously believe that you will get amazing results with this THAT much! So what’s $4.95 ? Hey- if you don’t believe how amazing this might me- read the testimonies of the ladies in above link!

3- I’ve tried EVERYTHING! Ok- so you’ve tried what? fad diets? starving yourself? sweating yourself into an injury? Have you ever learned about your body? about nutrition? about HOW to excercise and do it effectively??! Well, then you haven’t tried everything, or else you wouldn’t be in the physical state you are currently in. You have been looking for the quick fix, the magic pill and special exotic cream, the perfect slimming shake. It ain’t out there! You gotta know how to eat, when to eat, what to eat & how to exercise! (notice the emphasis on the eating!)

4- I just don’t think this will work for me. A very wise woman at clubFYM.com said something that changed my world- she said “excuses are just well designed LIES!” stop lying to yourself, stop telling yourself you will never get there, stop thinking that you will never lose the fat, or never be fit, or never be happy with the way you look! If you buy into this lie, then you are choosing to just stay where you are at! sorry, I’m a little harsh, but how can you know something won’t work for you- unless you try it!

5- maybe next time. yeah I’ve heard that one before, why are you so afraid to act NOW! live NOW! Change NOW! you ARE worth it, you DESERVE to be happy, to live free-er, to do and be what you want to be.

okay, well, if still you refuse to try and see what amazing results you CAN achieve then, I’m sorry. I’m sorry that with my own transformation I cannot convince you enough, just know that I will trek on and give my all for you, you will get to this place one day, and I pray and hope I can be part of it, cause that’s me. I want you to be happy, I want you to know what you are capable of. Will you join me? and I AM seriously talking to you! No one is going to be reading this far into my post if it wasn’t meant to be. so Join ME! We can do it!

Now that you’re in here is what I NEED of you:

-comment on this post so I can keep you accountable

-click on links to the right for e-book and for clubfym

-once signed up for clubfym go there and get registered for the challenge that begins on monday!

Okay ladies, LETS DO THIS! I will be here to hold your hand the whole way, I promise!
